Mayor’s term ends

CASEY mayor Geoff Ablett sat in the leaders chair for the last time at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
In his last meeting as the mayor, Cr Ablett thanked his fellow councillors for what he described as a “difficult year”, after his son Ryan died on Saturday 28 March from what an autopsy revealed to be a serious heart condition.
Councillors each thanked the mayor for his hard work and for implementing a theme of “team work” among the councillors.
Casey CEO Mike Tyler congratulated the mayor on behalf of the staff at the City of Casey.
Edrington Ward councillor Simon Curtis said the culture at Casey had been changed as a result of the leadership by Cr Ablett.
His term as mayor will end later this month and a new mayor will be elected.
