BERWICK Fire Brigade firefighters handed a thank-you plaque to a Berwick supermarket last week.
Berwick brigade captain Alan Boyd and first lieutenant Peter Obeth presented the plaque to Ritchie IGA supermarket manager Glenn Borchard.
Captain Boyd said the fire brigade had been receiving donations from the supermarket’s Community Benefit Program for 10 years.
“In this time over $23,000 has been donated to the brigade thanks to shoppers nominating Berwick CFA through the program,” he said.
Captain Boyd said the donations had been used over the years to purchase specialised fire-fighting equipment.
“As the brigade prepares for a long and hot summer, recent donations have been used to buy new specialised hose nozzles for aggressively attack-ing wildfire from the brigade’s four-wheel drive tanker while allow-ing maximum control over the amo-unt of water used,” Captain Boyd said.
