Police have released footage of a vehicle to identify those who were in the vehicle at the time with the male victim of a fatal stabbing, who was dropped off at Casey Hospital on Sunday 26 March.

Police said at about 7.30am on Sunday 26 March, a maroon Volvo sedan drove into the ambulance emergency bay at Casey Hospital in Berwick.

The male driver of the car got out and called for help from nearby paramedics, before pulling an unconscious man from the car.

Paramedics and hospital staff began to treat the man and shortly after, the driver got back into the Volvo and sped off.

The passenger, later identified as 45-year-old Port Melbourne man Daniel Cockerill, died minutes later after sustaining a stab wound to his upper body.

Police subsequently arrested a 40-year-old Port Melbourne man later that day, however he was released without charge.

Police said investigators also believed there was a third person in the vehicle with Daniel and the driver.
