TRAVEL on Victoria’s public transport network will be free on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky said Victorians and visitors would be able to travel to Melbourne free on services arriving after 6pm on New Year’s Eve. Passengers will also have free travel home on services departing Melbourne that night and the first service out of Melbourne on 1 January 2010.
Metropolitan train services on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve will be the same as the Sunday timetable, with the normal weekday timetable running on New Year’s Eve. The NightRider services will operate for New Year’s Eve.
