Much ado about 92

By Kelly Yates
FOX Road residents got a shock this week when they saw a new 92km/h speed limit sign along the road.
The News can confirm that the sign displayed in Narre Warren North is a false speed limit sign, with the speed limit along the road in fact 60km/h.
The fake sign had been pasted over the real one.
Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) Sergeant Allen Inderwisch said it was illegal for people to tamper with speed limit signs.
“There are no 92km/h speed limits in Victoria,” he said.
“It’s very dangerous. Some may think it’s a high speed zone and then it becomes a hazard because drivers could lose control on the road.”
VicRoads Metropolitan South East acting regional director Michael Barker said VicRoads often received notification from people about tampering with speed limit signs.
Residents should contact VicRoads or Casey council if they suspect speed limit signs have been interfered with.
