VICTORIANS now have extra time to get a free myki with the online offer extended to 31 January.
Outgoing Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky announced the extension to allow those who might have been holidaying over the Christmas and New Year period to take advantage of it.
“The response to the free myki offer has been extremely positive with more than 160,000 registered cards ordered in just two weeks,” Ms Kosky said.
Myki is the contactless smartcard ticketing system being introduced on public transport in Victoria.
Students can also get a free myki when they submit their application for the 2010 Victorian Public Transport Student Concession Card at a staffed train station or the MetShop.
When the free myki offer ends, myki cards will cost $10 for full fare and $7 for concession.
