A 17-year-old from Narre Warren South was taken to Casey Hospital last week after being punched and kicked in the ribs.
Police said the youth was walking along Langbourne Drive in Narre Warren South on 23 January at 4am with three friends when he was approached by two males, described as being of Pacific Islander decent.
According to police, the two men demanded cigarettes from the youths.
One of the men then punched and kicked the 17-year-old.
The offender then wanted the victim’s backpack and after handing it over, the victims fled the scene.
