Slow down in school zone

By Kelly Yates
POLICE are reminding motorists to obey 40 kilometre per hour speed zones around schools as students returned to school this week.
Casey Traffic Management Unit police are re-commencing Operation Juno to stop drivers ignoring school zone speed limits.
Child safety will be one of the main aims behind the operation, which was launched in October.
Police will be patrolling streets at random times around schools within the City of Casey in both marked and unmarked vehicles.
Acting Sergeant Allen Inderwisch from the Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) said police would also focus on double parking and people exceeding the parking length at drop off and pick up zones.
“Parents need to make sure they do the right thing so their children and other children aren’t put in dangerous situations,” he said.
