NARRE Warren North and Narre Warren East have recorded some of the highest burglary rates in the state, with one in 20 homes burgled in the past financial year.
The latest figures have been revealed after an RACV Home Security analysis of Victorian crime statistics.
General manager of RACV home services Peter Brindley said Lyndhurst also appeared on the list of riskiest areas in Victoria, with one in 27 homes targeted.
“It is concerning to see the changing profile of burglaries, with homes in a number of our high growth corridors at significant risk,” he said.
“These statistics clearly show that home burglary is not just an inner city phenomenon, but continues to be an issue right across the state.”
Mr Brindley said there were many commonsense ways to improve home security and reduce the risk of a break-in such as connecting a professional home security monitoring service, ensuring all doors and windows are well secured with locks and making sure mail is cleared and papers are cancelled when away.
