Locals lead the way

LOCAL greyhound trainers proved they were the head of the pack at Cranbourne on Monday night, winning four of the 12 races.
Clyde trainer John Westerlo took out the first race with Bling It On ($4), winning in only 30.60 seconds from box five. In the second race the locals had it again as Researcher ($2.90) earned Devon Meadow’s trainer Chris Johannsen the $790 first place.
The local luck continued in race three as Cranbourne’s Darren MacDonald took home $790 for a win by Teahupoo ($2) in race three. MacDonald has trained 190 winners from 435 runs in the past 12 months, with 67 running second and 49 coming in third.
Towards the end of the night Izz That Me ($5.60) was a surprise winner for Pearcedale’s Neville King over the 311 metres in race 11, earning $1050.
