POLICE will patrol the grounds at this weekend’s Berwick Show to crack down on teenagers attempting to take alcohol into the event.
Senior Sergeant Gerry Hengel, the officer in charge at the Narre Warren Police Station, said officers would work closely with council bylaws officers during the two-day show.
Sen Sgt Hengel said a $200 fine would be issued to anyone caught with an open container of alcohol.
“The fine has increased this year as previously it was a $100 fine,” he said.
Sen Sgt Hengel said parents needed to make sure their teenagers didn’t take alcohol to the Berwick Show.
“If they do, it will get confiscated and on top of that they’ll get a $200 fine,” he said.
“We want to make sure it’s a safe event for all.”
