A BERWICK woman is one of 27 new nurses and midwives working out of Casey Hospital.
Michelle Abaloz has been treating, educating and providing advice and support to patients at the Berwick hospital for the past three weeks, after graduating last December.
The 36-year-old will rotate across the general wards, paediatrics, theatre and emergency during her time at the hospital.
Some of the full-time nurse’s jobs have included getting medication for the patients, interacting with the doctors and helping with general duties such as showering of patients.
Ms Abaloz says she enjoys making a difference to people who are unwell.
“It’s a great team environment. I enjoy working with the community,” she said.
A Southern Health spokesperson said 38 more general nurses would join the other nurses in April and August.
