Casey goes on with lice wash discount

By Rebecca Fraser
HEAD lice will no longer be a headache for many Casey parents after the council decided to continue the sale of headlice treatment at its three customer service centres.
The move means that Casey parents can continue to buy K29 head lice treatment from customer service centres at Narre Warren, Narre Warren South and Cranbourne at the reduced price of $8.
In August 2004 council began a 12month trial of selling the treatment and at last Tuesday’s meeting mayor Kevin Bradford said it was great to see council continuing the initiative.
“The trial has worked well and I am glad that it will continue.
“It is a worthwhile project as this is a nasty problem that kids and adults have faced for a long time and is a problem that will most likely be around for a very long time.
“I am glad that council are being proactive to help solve this problem,” he said.
Cr Bradford said since the initiative began 72 schools in Casey had been written to twice advising them of the sale of the treatment and he hoped the word continued to spread.
He said it was important that parents knew the council was selling the treatment at half the cost of pharmacies, offering them a more affordable alternative if lice struck.
