VICTORIANS will get a public holiday on Monday 26 April because Anzac Day falls on a Sunday this year.
Narre Warren North Labor MP Luke Donnellan says Anzac Day is a day of significance for all Australians.
“Respecting the solemnity of this important day is paramount to most Australians,” Mr Donnellan said.
“This is why Victoria has long-established restrictions in place that limit entertainment, sport and large-scale shop trading until 1pm on the day.”
The Shop Trading Reform Act 1996 restricts large stores and shopping centres from opening until after 1pm on Anzac Day.
The restrictions apply to Anzac Day on Sunday 25 April, but not to the public holiday on Monday 26 April.
