Shock – no locks!

By Kelly Yates
A NARRE Warren mother got a shock when she looked in the mirror and saw she had no hair.
But for Heather Allen, taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave was “all worth it for a good cause.”
Ms Allen joined other staff and residents at the Casey Gardens Residential Village in Narre Warren on Saturday for the fundraiser, with five of them shaving their heads to a number one.
Ms Allen had spent the past seven months growing her hair to get ready for the shave.
“I wanted to make sure it was really long before the big shave,” she said.“It felt horrible and scary when they were shaving my head. It was weird in the shower, feeling the water on top of my head.”
More than 70 people turned up to the fundraising event to support the locals in the hall at Casey Gardens Residential Village. The team raised more than $1000, with Ms Allen saying the donations were still rolling in.
“The owner of the park is also matching what the staff raise, dollar for dollar,” she said.
Ms Allen thanked everyone for their support, in particular Allan and Dallas Lydall, Parkhill Butcher and hairdresser Glenda Quinn.
The Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave is one of Australia’s biggest fundraising events.
