Shave for love

By Bridget Brady
IT WAS just another hair cut for Andrew Dyson, but it meant the world to his auntie Pamela.
The 15-year-old had hishead shaved in Cranbourne last week to show his support forhis auntie who is battling liver cancer.
Pamela Lindsay, 44, held back the tears last Tuesday and said her nephew’s gesture was sweet.
“I didn’t want him to cut his hair,” she laughed.
“But I think it’s lovely…I’ve been through a lot and I’ll get through this.”
Andrew, a student at Cranbourne Secondary College, said he decided to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation as part of the World’s Greatest Shave event when he found out about his auntie’s diagnosis in February.
“For me it’s just a normal hair cut,” he said.
Ms Lindsay is living withher sister, Wendy Dyson, and Andrew at their Narre Warren South home.
“There are times when it can be tough, but we’re all there and we’re all getting through it,” Andrew said.
Ms Dyson said she was full of admiration for her younger sister.
“She is remarkable. I bawl my eyes out and she gives me a cuddle and says it’s ok and she is patting me on the back and I think you’ve got to be kidding me,” Ms Dyson said.
Ms Dyson said she was proud of her son who has raised more than $300.
