Helping Rob

By Kelly Yates
Berwick resident Rob Bailey, who is an employee at the Mexican House, suffered serious head injuries when he fell from a balcony at his home last Saturday morning.
He was airlifted to The Alfred hospital where he is still recovering after an operation.
Workers from both restaurants are planning the fund-raising night on Sunday 25 April at the Lava Lounge in Berwick, with all of the profits going towards Mr Bailey’s medical bills.
Restaurant owner Ben Dabaco told the Gazette staff had donated all of their tips from the past month to the fund-raiser, which could be as much as $2000.
“This accident has shocked the whole Mexican House and Beno’s family,” Mr Dabaco said.
“It’s really hit us hard.”
Donation tins have also been placed in the restaurants.
More than 100 people are expected to attend this weekend’s fund-raiser.
“We’re hoping to raise between $6000 and $7000,” Mr Dabaco said.
There will be a $10 donation for entry from 8pm on the night.
Guests will be treated to music by DJ Dave and a raffle with prizes such as a framed and signed item from Taylor Made memorabilia.
