HALLAM CFA has welcomed seven new recruits to its team.
Michael Parisi, Chris Zammit, Justin D’Aversa, Holly Benedetti, Sasha Djelic, Dane Knezic and Graeme Burton joined the brigade last month.
Hallam brigade Officer in Charge Operations Officer Cliff O’Connor and 1st Lieutenant Lee Austin presented the new members with their completion certificates at a brigade meeting.
The new recruits carried out a nine-month extensive training period to complete the wildfire fire-fighter course, as well as eight weekends and a final assessment at the Hallam brigade.
Second Lieutenant and Training Officer Paul Roberts said all of the new members would be involved in all brigade training, fire calls including alarms, car accidents and any fire in their turn out area.
“All new members have been a great boost to the Hallam fire brigade and to the local community,” he said.
Recruit Mr Parisi said he was thrilled to be qualified and was happy to be helping the community at the calls he has attended so far.
“I joined the fire brigade to help the community and that’s what I’ve done form the very first call I attended,” he said.
“The training, calls and other fire fighters are just what I expected in the CFA’s extended family.”
