Di gets pink

By Kim Brooks
THE After Breast Cancer Exercise Group travelled by pink limousine to the Field Of Women breast cancer awareness event at the MCG on Friday 7 May.
The trip was arranged earlier in the year by Diana Polimeni, who passed away on 22 March this year from cancer.
“She organised everything,” said Sue Elliott, who joined the group after meeting Diana. A dozen women make up the exercise group and meet once a week to do water aerobics.
“It was a tribute to Di,” Ms Elliott said about the Friday night event.
“There were 14, 000 people there, that’s how many people get breast cancer each year,” she said.
The Breast Cancer Network Australia urged 14, 000 men and women to stand together and create The Pink Lady.
Each person wore a pink poncho and together they created an image of a woman to represent the number of Australians, who are expected to be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2010.
