Brewers hop to it

A SOCIAL event treated the tastebuds at Doveton’s Chifley Hotel Coldwater Creek Tavern on Tuesday.
Management and staff at the tavern launched their own brew, Coldwater Creek Pilsner, and invited guests to join the special occasion.
Assistant manager Tony Tantaro said now the hotel was brewing its own beer, the atmosphere was “a little more merrier.”
“We think it’s a fantastic product. As we adapt and grow with our business, you will see the hotel develop, as well as the beer,” he said.
Guests from as far away as New Zealand enjoyed entertainment, food and the new beer.
Local couple Mary and Robert Warburton said they were not only pleased with the taste of the beer, but were pleased to have the hotel in the community.
“It is a great place for the area,” Mrs Warburton said.
“There is a lot of industry around, and now they have a beautiful place to stay.”
Coldwater Creek Tavern’s Nikki Walton said she received a lot of positive comments about the venue.
“We have had really good feedback from customers,” she said.
“They really like having this type of quality in the area.”
Mr Tontaro said the special event allowed management to thank their loyal clients and friend for their ongoing support, but he did have one very important warning for the guests.
“Its 6.8 per cent alcohol. It’s punchier than normal,” he said.
“What’s great about microbrewery is you can manipulate it and play with it. It’s something interesting and fun.”
