THE City of Casey is now accepting entries for the inaugural Casey Business Awards.
The awards provide a unique opportunity to celebrate the energy, ambition and confidence of the business community.
This year’s award categories include home-based business of the year award, small independent retailer of the year award, agriculture and primary industries award, new business of the year award, manufacturer of the year award, food, wine and hospitality award, business and professional services award, trades and construction award and franchise of the year award.
All Casey businesses are encouraged to enter the awards.
“The City of Casey is home to nearly 15,000 businesses which play a vital role in our rapidly-growing community. The Casey Business Awards offers recognition and support, rewarding the excellence and innovation of local businesses,” Casey mayor Lorraine Wreford said.
“We have a thriving, dynamic business community and the awards is an opportunity to celebrate the great things happening right here in our own backyard.”
Casey economic development manager David Wilkinson said all Casey businesses should be eligible for at least one award.
“The award categories reflect the composition of the Casey business community. Businesses, other than franchises, can each enter up to two categories, while franchise businesses can enter the franchise category,” Mr Wilkinson said.
Applications close 9 July and the winners will be announced at a gala awards dinner in August.
Sponsors of the 2010 award categories are Minuteman Press Narre Warren, South East Lawyers, Department of Primary Industries, Chisholm Institute, Fyna Foods, VECCI, Monash University, Stockland – Selandra Rise and Bendigo Bank, with the major sponsors of the awards being Melbourne Football Club, Commonwealth Bank, Stockland, Fairfax Community Network and RJ Sanderson and Associates.
