Fund timefor clubs

SPORTS clubs in Casey are set to get new uniforms and footwear, thanks to a cash boost from the Victorian Government’s Our Club, Our Future Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
Local MPs Judith Graley and Luke Donnellan both said the $1.65 million program aimed to ensure clubs were properly equipped to compete in their local leagues.
The funding will provide up to $1000 to many clubs in the City of Casey including Casey Chiefs Junior Rugby League Club, Casey City Power Netball Club, Hampton Park Basketball Association, Lions Sport Club, Berwick Springs Sports Club, Berwick Miners Gridiron Football Club, Doveton Football Club, Berwick Football Club, Timbarra and Community Junior Football Club and Berwick Junior Football Club.
“Victoria boasts a strong tradition of involvement in grassroots sports, with clubs contributing greatly to the identity of many of our towns and communities,” Ms Graley said.
“In Casey, our clubs have produced sporting stars, most recently number 1 AFL draft pick Tom Scully. There is a great sense of pride in pulling on the team colours and representing your town or club, but there are many community sports clubs which lack the resources to properly equip their squads and members.”
The third round of funding is available for application from 21 June to 30 July. During this period, appli-cations will be open online at www.grants.dpcd.vic.gov.au
