Lab raid

By Kelly Yates
POLICE raided a drug lab in Narre Warren last week, just metres away from a secondary school.
Members from the Clandestine Laboratory Squad and local police searched the Pater Close home about 7pm on Thursday night.
Police said they located an “active laboratory” in the house, and seized precursor chemicals, glassware and other apparatus.
Two Narre Warren men, aged 29 and 30, were arrested and charged with trafficking amphetamines, possessing equipment for manufacturing a drug of dependence and other drug offences.
They were remanded and set to appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
A 25-year-old Narre Warren woman was also arrested and then released pending further inquiries.
Clandestine Laboratory Squad Detective Sergeant Eric Harbis said the location of the lab was of major concern, given its close proximity to the secondary college.
“Police will continue to be relentless in their pursuit of such offenders who place other members of the community at risk by setting up these clandestine operations,” he said.
