Alcohol goes in ramraid

A NARRE Warren drivethrough bottle shop was ramraided and robbed on Sunday night with more than five slabs of alcohol taken.
Detective Sergeant Garry Kear of Narre Warren CIU said the incident occurred about midnight when two men were seen in what was believed to be a longwheelbased white Econovan. Det Sgt Kear said the van was smashed into the aluminum roller door and one man then entered the storage area.
He said a substantial amount of alcohol was then removed, including at least five or six slabs of Carlton Club scotch and three to four bottles of Absolut vodka, among other items. These were then placed into the van before the two men drove away.
A witness reported the incident but police have asked that people with any other information contact Detective Senior Constable Andrew Smart of Narre Warren CIU on 97053111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
“We are keen to establish the identity of these two men and the car would have some fairly reasonable damage to the back,” Det Sgt Kear said.
“The van may have even been taken to a repair place and someone may have seen it.”
Det Sgt Kear said police had not linked the van to any stolen vehicles.
