A FORMER Doveton resident has been questioned by police in relation to a number of rapes dating back more than 15 years.
Detective Sergeant Garry Kear of Narre Warren CIU said the 47-year-old had been interviewed at the Northcote Police Station last week in relation to allegations of rape and false imprisonment. The incidents are alleged to have occurred between 1989 and 1991 in Doveton.
Det Sgt Kear said the man in question had been a known friend of Brian Keith Jones, known as Mr Baldy, and had served time in prison.
He said the allegations had been made by the man’s former wife and police would not need to canvass witnesses dating back to that time.
