Wrong-way for luck

A NARRE Warren man is lucky to be alive after colliding with a semi-trailer on the Monash Freeway on Saturday morning.
Police said witnesses saw a Jeep Wrangler being driven inbound on the wrong side of the freeway, about 200 metres west of Forster Road, at 3.45am.
They were told the semi-trailer, which was travelling outbound, had to take evasive action because the four-wheel-drive was heading towards it.
The vehicles collided, with police saying it was lucky all occupants escaped without injury.
The 25-year-old driver of the Jeep was taken to the Glen Waverley police station where he registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.149 per cent.
He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic-related offences.
Leading Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch from Casey Highway Patrol said the driver was extremely lucky to walk away unhurt from the crash.
“He was nearly three times the legal limit. It’s very fortunate no one was killed or injured,” he said.
“This is very frustrating for police as it seems no matter how much work and publicity we do, people are still not paying attention on our roads.”
