Phone stolen

A HEARTLESS thi-ef has stolen a mobile phone from the car of a Narre Warren North volunteer firefighter while he was on a call-out last week.
Michael Burgess said he was annoyed someone decided to help him or herself to his iPhone, which was left in his unlocked car at the Narre Warren North Fire Brigade about 5pm on Thursday 18 August.
Mr Burgess said this wasn’t the first time a mobile phone had been stolen from the station.
“We had two that went missing when we had a big house fire a few months ago,” he said. “Haven’t people got anything better to do?”
Mr Burgess said he was gone from the station only about 15 minutes when his phone was stolen.
“I’m annoyed at myself for leaving my car unlocked. But it’s such a low act for someone to steal something from a fire station,” he said.
“And it turns out that the call-out was a false alarm.”
The Narre Warren North Fire Brigade is now looking at ramping up security and possibly installing security cameras.
