POLICE are appealing for information following the attempted abduction of a Narre Warren woman in Dandenong last Friday.
The 34-year-old woman was walking alone down Cleeland Street about 11pm after a night out with friends at a nearby hotel when she was approached by a white sedan.
Police said the car followed for a short distance before pulling up beside her.
The front seat passenger got out of the car, grabbed the victim and pushed her into the rear seat.
Police said the woman struggled for a short time before a “Good Samaritan” pulled her from the car.
The “Good Samaritan” drove her back to the hotel where her friends were, and she reported the incident to police who were at the hotel on another matter. The woman received scratches to her chest and a minor head injury.
Police believe the front seat passenger was either of Afghan or Turkish appearance, dark skinned, about 160cm tall with dark “boofy” hair and a goatie beard. He was wearing a dark puffy jacket.
Police believe four people were in the car, which is described as a white Toyota Camry sedan or similar.
Police would like to speak to the “Good Samaritan” who may be an off duty taxi driver in his own vehicle.
He is described as an older man with a chubby face and is believed to be very tall.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
