Narre Warren man part of six arrested after brawl turned stabbing

A 24-year-old Narre Warren man is among five other who has been charged with assault-related offences following a nightclub stabbing in Little Chapel Street in 16 August.

The offences, which included affray and failing to comply with direction to assist, came after an 18-year-old suffered serious stab wounds to his lower body after an alleged brawl.

The altercation, which broke out of the toilet area and onto the street resulted in the 18-year-old being stabbed in his buttocks and groin area, before being placed in an induced coma.

Following enquiries, detectives from the Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit executed six simultaneous search warrants at homes in Caroline Springs, Donnybrook and South Melbourne, from about 8am on Wednesday 28 August.

Police seized mobile phones and other electronic devices, as well as clothing relevant to the investigation.

A 19-year-old Caroline Springs man was arrested at a home on Barn Elms Parade and charged with recklessly causing serious injury, assault-related offences, array, and failing to comply with directions to assist.

The suspect appeared in the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 28 August, where he was remanded to reappear on Thursday 29 August.

Including the Narre Warren man, four other men were arrested including a 19-year-old South Melbourne man, an 18-year-old Caroline Springs Man, and a 25-year-old Donnybrook man – all charged with the same assault-related offences and failing to comply with directions to assist.

All five men were bailed to appear in the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on 11 November.

Another 21-year-old South Melbourne man was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
