BUSHWALKING, craft, dan-ce and yoga are some of the activities on offer at next month’s Ageing Positively in Casey Festival.
Residents from across the municipality are set to enjoy a variety of activities, events and education sessions as part of the Ageing Positively in Casey Festival, which runs from 3 to 17 October.
This year’s theme is “Feel Great – Participate!”
Casey mayor Lorraine Wreford said some of the highlights in the program included a tour of the old Tooradin Fisherman’s Cottage and School on Friday 15 October and a bushwalk through the Dandenong Ranges followed by morning tea on Monday 11 October.
The Casey Cardinia Life Activities Group will host an afternoon of entertainment with a Pam Ayres impersonator on Thursday 7 October at the Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House in Berwick.
Ron Moles, 82, and Shirley Moles, 77, have been with the Casey Cardinia Life Activities Group since the Berwick group began 14 years ago.
“We went along to hear about financial planning and we have been with the club ever since,” Mrs Moles said. The couple is encouraging residents who might be thinking of trying something new, or joining a new club, to get out and have a go.
“The best thing about being part of a social group is that it keeps us socially connected with the community and friends. The club is like one big family,” Mr Moles said.
