A HAMPTON Park teenager will get the chance to meet scientists and explore laboratories after being selected for the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra.
Loughlin Turpin said he was most looking forward to meeting more people like him who have a passion for science at next year’s forum, which runs for two weeks.
The 16-year-old will travel to Canberra in January and spend 12 days learning about the world of science with some of the best Year 11 science students in the country.
Loughlin, a Year 11 student at Hampton Park Secondary College, has a goal of “helping the world.”
“I’ve always loved learning,” he said.
“And going through high school I realised I wanted to help people. Eventually, I’d like to study environmental chemistry.”
The Rotary Club of Narre Warren is sponsoring Loughlin for the National Youth Science Forum by donating $1000.
His school is also donating $500 to support him.
