Dance duo’s clean sweep

BERWICK dancer Andrew Nolo and his partner Shannen Clarke won three youth open championships at the South Pacific Dancesport Championships in Sydney on 2 and 3 October.
Andrew and Shannen were “Over the moon” about their achievement of winning all 15 dances over the three styles as this championship was one of the four major championships on the calendar.
Andrew,18, started dancing at the age of four, because his babysitter’s family came from a dancing background.
“I was taken to a Saturday kids’ class and haven’t stopped since,” Andrew said.
Andrew and Shannen have been dancing together since early 2008 and have been successful on more than one occasion.
They won the right to represent their country on two separate occasions: The World Youth Ten Dance Championships in Moscow, Russia, in October last year and the World Youth Ballroom Championships in May this year.
They also managed to win the Youth (under-19) Open Ballroom and New Vouge at the Nationals Championships held in Canberra in June of this year and the Adult Open New Vouge at Canberra and the result was backed up at the South Pacific as well.
Andrew and Shannen would like to thank their parents, friends and family as well as their coaches and past coaches.
