Major result on mini day

STUDENTS at Maramba Primary School learnt an important lesson in economics while conducting a fun-filled mini-fete last week.
Ninety Grade 6 students organised the mini-fete, which ran for two hours on 4 November.
Assistant principal Sue Peterken said the school had hosted the event for about 15 years, but the students have only been running it for three years.
“It is part of the economics unit study for the Grade 6 students,” she said.
“They plan all the stalls, set them up and source the required materials. Then each one of the 27 classes in the school run a different stall.
“It teaches them all about profit and loss and organisational skills.”
Ms Peterken said the students enjoyed various stalls featuring different activities, such as face painting, sack races and goal kicking.
“All the young kids were very excited,” she said.
“It was a lovely community day. There were a lot of parents who called in. It was great to have so many people at the school.”
The Student Representative Council will determine what the much-needed funds raised from the fun day will be used for.
Ms Peterken said funds have previously been put into savings to renovate the aging playgrounds at the school.
