CASEY council is calling on all local creative artists, writers and budding directors to enter their work in this year’s annual Casey Creations Creative Arts Competition to celebrate National Youth Week 2006.
City of Casey manager youth and community development Janette Green said entries were now open for young people aged 10 to 25 who lived, worked, studied or had a strong connection to Casey to showcase their original works to the wider community.
“For the first time, multi-media artists are included in the competition.
“Whatever your creative talent in writing, painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics, woodwork, poetry, web based art or film making, the only limit is your imagination,” Ms Green said.
Ms Green said Casey Creations was a popular competition, now in its fifth year, that highlighted the creative talents of young people and celebrated their thoughts, feelings and ideas.
“There are also some great prizes with $50 vouchers for each category, merit awards and opportunities for selected artworks to be exhibited at various venues, including the Civic Centre Art Space and in an online exhibition via the council’s website,” Ms Green added.
Casey Creations has three categories – visual arts, creative writing and multi media – and the following school year levels/age equivalent:
• Grades 5 and 6
• Years 7 and 8
• Years 9 and 10
• Years 11 and 12
• 18 – 25 years of age
• Group entry
