GYMNASTIC groups from the Berwick YMCA had an impressive finish to their competitive year at a competition in Donvale recently.
Coach Mel Overdyk said the gymnasts landed a number of personal and team awards. “They all did very well,” she said.
“We don’t concentrate on competions too much, we just like to have fun- but they will continue training. We are now working on an end-of-year display that will be held in December.”
Ms Overdyk said the gym club had about 350 members and there were about 55 members on the squad program.
She said the Berwick YMCA provided a trampolining program and was introducing an all-abilities class.
She encouraged children to get involved.
“Gymnastics develops motor skills in young children and it is done in a safe and exciting environment,” she said.
