THE effects of weather phenomenon La Nina were felt again on Saturday as team captains in the Dandenong and District Cricket Association had no choice but to abandon play on the rain-soaked weekend.
The cancellation makes last Saturday the fifth week this season that play has been affected by persistent rain or soaked pitches.
A figure released by the Bureau of Meteorology said that 47 per cent of Saturdays this year have experienced rain, but with sunny skies expected for this weekend DDCA players and officials alike are hopeful of a result.
All matches are scheduled to be played as one-dayers.
