ENGLISHMAN Rory Hamilton-Brown has turned his back on Casey-South Melbourne less than a week after committing to play for the club’s second XI.
The 23-year-old all-rounder, who captains top-tier county outfit Surrey, made his Premier Cricket debut for Footscray-Edgewater’s firsts on Saturday.
His apparent signing was last week hailed as a coup for the Swans, despite the fact that the club was unable to fit him into its first XI alongside existing professionals Damien Wright and Peter Trego.
Hamilton-Brown batted at number three for the Doggies on Saturday, making 21 in the clash with Geelong.
Swans coach Mark Ridgway was tight-lipped about the situation this week, but the club is understood to be fuming about Hamilton-Brown’s about-face. It’s safe to assume that the Englishman cooled on the idea of playing second-grade cricket.
