IT IS sad to read the letter by Casey councillor Sam Aziz (News, 16 December) making a personal attack on Jim Reiher and Cr Lynette Keleher.
Jim Reiher is a highly respected member of the Casey community, having set up and been active in the Casey Interfaith Network and previously been a participant in the Living in Harmony project, which involved teaching children about the benefits of living in peace and respecting those who are different to you.
In her two years on council, Cr Keleher’s dedication to serving the people of Doveton, Hallam and Hampton Park as the councillor for River Gum Ward has led to many positive outcomes for the people of that area, including obtaining funding for the River Gum Performing Arts Theatre, Cairns Road Reserve Redevelopment Master Plan, Rowan Park House Redevelopment and successfully lobbying for the Hallam Road duplication and Hallam Railway Station upgrade.
These achievements and many others have been featured in many editions of the Casey City News. In my experience I have found her hard-working, professional and polite.
Jim Reiher was making a constructive contribution to dealing with the issue of bullying on Casey council. If he has been in contact with Cr Keleher what is wrong with that?
Is Cr Sam Aziz part of the bullying problem on Casey Council himself?
To echo Sam’s words, I will let the residents of the City of Casey draw their own conclusions from reading Cr Aziz’s letter.
Matthew Kirwan,
Keysborough.
