Singer-songwriter Kerrigan La-Brooy is excited to soon be releasing his much anticipated Gospel album.

The senior pastor of Gethsemane Church in Berwick said he was thrilled to make “a long-awaited come-back” to the music scene after releasing his seventh studio recording and first Gospel 10-track album.

“It’s nothing short of a miracle,” Kerrigan, a father of six said, adding he planned to release the album in April.

Kerrigan, who has won an array of Casey and state awards, particularly for his volunteer work with the Gethsemane Charity which provides food and clothes to more than 400 people every day, said he was most thrilled one of the tracks featured his children aged six to 11.

Kerrigan dedicated about 30 hours creating the album and apart from doing all the lead vocals, he also does some harmonies.

He put his music career on hold after meeting his love Michelle, whom he married in 2007. The Sri-Lankan born musician had toured the world until 2008 and at one point “topped the charts” but says raising his “priceless treasures” with his wife had been his greatest passion.

“I decided to return to the recording studio to raise funds for Gethsemane in order to continue God’s work, spread the love of Jesus and extend the Lord’s kingdom,” he said.

This is on top of hosting a radio show every Wednesday night on Casey Radio, running a children’s talent academy and an opportunity shop, leading worship, organising the annual Clyde Carols by Candlelight, and visiting the poor and the elderly.

He described his return to the recording studio like “a fish to water” and added “there will definitely be more than one album”.

The Gospel album, which is yet to be named, will cost $25 however anyone interested in pre-ordering and paying now, it will cost just $20.

“It’s important to keep in mind that 50 per cent of all sales go straight into the work Gethsemane does in the community.”

Kerrigan is bearing the entire cost of producing the album which runs into thousands of dollars. He has also donated 50 per cent upfront.
