Narre ‘collapses’ to a win

NARRE WARREN’S turf-three side survived a batting collapse to defeat Coomoora in round eight on Saturday.
With the overs reduced to 35 and losing the toss, Narre Warren was sent in on a sticky wicket.
A superb opening stand between Dwayne Thomson (36) and Graham Braithwaite (40) saw Narre Warren 1/73 from 17 overs.
Then a batting collapse followed and Narre Warren was 6/91 after the 27 overs, finishing 9/119 from the 35 overs.
Coomoora was in trouble with the bat from the start at 1/2 soon to be 7/44 then all out for 100.
Bryce Millar finished with 4/19 off seven overs, Chris Edwards 2/30, but the pick of the bowlers was the under-rated Ben Charles with 3/7 off seven overs.

Playing Narre North away, Narre Warren won the toss and decided to bat and the runs came on a regular basis.
Pushing Matt Harding up the order (from 10 to three) paid off with him compiling 37.
Marty Green batted well making 25.
The close of the innings saw the score 9/159.
Narre Warren bowled and fielded well to keep the opposition to a total of 151.
Best of the bowlers was Mick Teeuw 4/37 off eight overs and Matt Clarke with a great effort 1/19 from eight overs giving Narre Warren a morale-boosting win.

Hosting Hallam and losing the toss, Narre Warren was sent in to bat losing the first wicket at 48 and finishing the allotted overs at 202.
Best of the bats were David Orchard (32), John Easton (60) and Craig Mentiplay (54).
Narre Warren took the field to capture the first wicket for five to be all out for 118.
Best of the bowlers were Shane Johnston (0/15 off eight overs), Greg Sealby (1/3 off eight overs), Mick vanDam (2/47 off eight overs), Greg Young (2/33 off eight overs) and Andrew Waller (1/13 off four overs) to have Narre Warren win by 84 runs.

Narre Warren hosted Springvale South, lost the toss and was sent into the field.
The opening bowlers did not keep a good line and length, resulting in the opposition getting a brilliant start.
The first wicket fell in the third over with Narre Warren starting to get on top with tight bowling and fielding, resulting in Springvale South’s run rate dropping greatly to finish 3/96 after the allotted overs.
Narre Warren went into bat, only to lose Jordan Muzzolini for four in the first over at 1/8.
Great running between the wickets boosted Narre Warren’s run rate to 3/58 after 10 overs with a brilliant partnership from Jordan Bulner 31 and John Mentiplay 47.
Narre Warren reached the target of 86 in the 18th over for a great team win.

Narre Warren won the toss, putting Narre North into bat.
The bowlers restricted the opening bats to 12 runs off the first seven overs and this continued until the 21st over with the opposition finishing on 3/58.
Narre Warren started well with the bat being 1/32 off eight overs, but a run of outs soon had Narre Warren in trouble at 6/51 off 15 overs.
However once again Luke Clarke guided Narre Warren to victory in the 18th over with a determined 28 getting the team over the line.
Luke Clarke 22 and 1/11, Jacob Waller 1/6 and Jarryd Straker 1/5.

Playing the top team, Narre Warren bowled well, but could have fielded better, allowing North Dandenong to reach 1/98 off its 20 overs.
Narre Warren fought well with the bat finishing four runs short at 4/94.

Narre Warren played Endeavour Hills, lost the toss and was sent into field.
Endeavour Hills, off its allotted overs, made 6/108 with Hayden Stagg 3/3, Keigan Dickson 2/12 and Stephen Vuurman 2/8.
Narre Warren making 2/83 off their overs with Stagg 25 not-out and Ricky Jones 10.
