Safety gets a green light

STUDENTS in Casey can now cross the street safely thanks to the installation of new pedestrian crossing signals in Berwick and Endeavour Hills.
New pedestrian signals have been installed on High Street, Berwick and Heatherton Road, Endeavour Hills allowing students who attend St Michael’s Catholic Primary School and James Cook Primary School to cross the roads more safely.
City of Casey manager of engineering and environment David Richardson said the installation of pedestrian signals was part of an ongoing program across the municipality.
“In previous years we have installed pedestrian signals in Narre Warren, Hallam and Hampton Park and the design is currently underway to install a pedestrian signal crossing on Cameron Street, Cranbourne,” Mr Richardson said.
Casey mayor Cr Colin Butler said the installation of pedestrian signal crossings was important to both the council and community.
St Micheal’s Catholic Primary School principal Michael Hanney said the school community was delighted that the crossing on High Street was fully operational.
“This will ensure that all children and adults needing to cross High Street can now do so safely,” Mr Hanney said.
