Woman arrested after high-speed pursuit

AN ENDEAVOUR Hills woman led police on a 90-kilometre chase that reached speeds of up to 180km/h last Thursday before she was caught in Bacchus Marsh.
Police were called to an address in Heatherton Road shortly before 1am following reports of a woman in a distressed state.
Upon police arrival, the 23-year-old woman jumped in a taxi while its driver was out of the vehicle and drove it towards the Monash Freeway.
Police said the pursuit was stopped at Wellington Road after a risk assessment but the Air Wing continued to follow the taxi, which was also being monitored through the vehicle’s GPS system. The woman continued her journey for another hour, slowing to a safe speed as she appeared to become disoriented in unknown surroundings on the Western Ring Road.
She was eventually apprehended by a police night shift van when she stopped at a red light at the intersection of the Western Highway and Bacchus Marsh Road about 2am.
The woman was interviewed at Endeavour Hills police station and is expected to be charged on summons with theft of motor car, driving manner dangerous and multiple traffic offences.
