Aces at Cranbourne

IT was a week of aces at Cranbourne Golf Club with two holes in one.
The first was in the Wednesday competition with Steve Hanlon ‘slam-dunking’ from 150 metres on the challenging par-three eighth, followed by Brian Mapleback canning his on the par-three third on Saturday.

Stableford men’s competition, 2 August.
Paul Fulton (handicap four) took out the event on a countback from Rob Sadlon (handicap 10), the pair having excellent rounds of 42 points.
For Paul, it was a stroke round of two-under par.

Ladies monthly medal, stroke, 3 August.
Glenda Williams (handicap 14) took out the August monthly medal in trying conditions with a nett round of 74.
She also took out nearest-the-pin honours on the 17th hole.

Men’s Stableford.
A-grade winner Gerry Nymer (handicap 11) had a great round of 42 points as did B-grade winner Robert Warbuton (handicap 17) also scoring 42 points.
Laurie West took out C-grade with 38 points.

Mixed Par competition.
Plus-3 was the score to beat on Sunday with men’s winner Michael Hill and ladies winner Katy Lasky both shooting that score.
P. Griffett, a visitor from Garfield (handicap six) had a great round of plus-three, but fell short, losing on a countback to Michael Hill.
He took a nearest-the-pin prize back to Garfield, after a brilliant iron shot to the third finishing 140cms from the pin.
