Students learn

MONASH Berwick students learnt how to survive the rigours of tertiary life last week through a range of exercises and workshops.
The university staged Student Survival week, which is designed to help students adjust to university life and cope with the various demands that are present in a new learning environment.
Study loads, making new friends and, for many, living away from home for the first time, can take their toll on first-year university students.
Yoga, meditation, circus style workshops and free meals were just a few of the many attractive offers available at the Clyde Road campus.
Health, wellbeing and development manager Andrew Marks said Survival Week encouraged students to take advantage of the free services and support available on campus.
“Monash Berwick students have access to free counselling, financial aid, chaplaincy, academic and career advice,” Mr Marks said.
“Survival Week helps to connect struggling students with these services before their problems become too great.”
The Monash Union of Berwick Students (MUBS) also helped out during the week and organised a number of relevant campus activities.
“We have an extremely supportive community environment at Monash Berwick and our aim is to help students as soon as we can,” Mr Marks said.
“Student Survival Week encourages students to reach out for assistance sooner rather than later.”
