SOUTH East Water is encouraging customers to take advantage of a rebate scheme which has been extended and now includes a new range of products.
The new items will help save water in the kitchen, bathroom and garden with a waterless car cleaning product and rainwater diverters just two on offer.
South East Water managing director Dennis Cavagna said the new products provide a great opportunity to help the community save water in and around the home.
“Our customers now have more of a reason to utilise the Water Smart Gardens and Homes Rebate Scheme and up the anti on water-saving efforts. The scheme provides our customers with a rebate off their water bill for purchasing approved water-saving products which will help to reduce water consumption,” Mr Cavagna said.
Since the launch of the rebates scheme in January 2003, more than 162,000 rebates on water-efficient products have been claimed and Victorians have claimed more than $10 million off their water bills through the scheme.
Despite the recent rainfall, Mr Cavagna said that the community must not become complacent, and continue to be mindful of how water is used.
“There has been some very good rainfall across the catchments in the last few weeks, but we are coming off a very low base, so we must continue with our water-saving efforts.
“Even with the Government’s recent announcement of a desalination plant and major irrigation upgrades to secure our water supply by the end of 2011, it is important that we continue to adopt water-saving measures in the interim,” he said.
