Stolen lift truck hits factories

CONSTRUCTION site owners in Hallam are crying over more than missing milk.
Last week, vandals targeted a group of factories being built in National Drive, where seven windows and a roller door were smashed by a stolen scissor lift truck.
A carton of milk and a tape measure were also taken from one of the factories.
Detective Sergeant Garry Kear of Narre Warren CIU said the scissor lift, valued at $100,000, had been stolen from a nearby site and driven across a paddock to the factories.
He said the scissor lift had then been rammed into the roller shutter door and the windows were smashed.
Det Sgt Kear said the damaged scissor lift was then left at the scene.
Police believe the persons involved must have had some knowledge or expertise with machinery to be able to start the scissor lift without keys.
The incident occurred between 5pm on Sunday, 18 June and 7am Tuesday, 20 June.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Senior Constable Tony Meyers of Narre Warren police, phone 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers, phone 1800 333 000.
