Winter wonderland

THE arts community was treated to a night of colour and celebration on Monday night with the launch of the City of Casey’s 2006 Winter Arts Program.
The program will run throughout July, and this year’s officially opening coincided with the annual mayoral arts dinner, which recognises the efforts of local artists and volunteers in the arts and culture.
This year’s Winter Arts Program will include more than 40 events.
Chair of the Casey Arts and Cultural Reference Group, Wayne Smith, said one of the highlights of the festival would be the Winter Arts Finale on 29 July, which had been booked out in past years, and this year would be held in a larger venue to accommodate more people.
The 150 members of Casey’s arts community that attended the arts dinner enjoyed sneak previews of some of the shows that will be performed throughout the festival..
For information, contact the City of Casey’s arts projects officer, Rebecca Christensen Page, on 9705 5200, or visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/winterartsprogram
