Melting pot cooks up fun

A MELTING pot of cultures at Monash University Berwick have celebrated all things international this week.
An array of different cultural activities, including belly dancing, African steel drumming and Bollywood dancing, have taken place with the fun of Multicultural Week set to continue today (Thursday) and tomorrow.
With one-third of its students from overseas, Monash Berwick offers both domestic and international students a rewarding cultural experience during their time studying at the campus.
Students and staff at the campus have taken part in the activities organised by the Berwick International Students Association (BISA).
“I’m really proud of the variety of cultural events that we have planned for Multicultural Week at Monash University’s Berwick campus,” BISA president Non Adun said.
“This vast array of activities is a true reflection of the many different cultures that are present on campus.”
The highlight of the first three days was a costume competition in which entrants wore their national dress.
“Multicultural Week celebrates the unique experience that we can offer at Monash Berwick,” Ms Adun said.
“Both local and international students are given the opportunity to learn about each other’s cultures and an event such as this provides students with the chance to form friendships that transcend geographical boundaries.”
