THE newest addition to the City of Casey’s public art work collection will take pride of place in the heart of Berwick’s Wilson Botanic Park.
The sculpture, entitled Still Moment, was recently unveiled to the public with Casey mayor Colin Butler hosting the event. Artist Will Georgiev of Zabelski Han Sculptors produced the piece.
“I congratulate Will and the project steering group for the energy, creativity and commitment shown in putting this artwork in place for the people of Casey,” Cr Butler said.
“Many hours of expertise and skill have gone into its construction, which will now continue to welcome and inspire visitors to Wilson Botanic Park today and for many years to come.”
Mr Georgiev spoke about finding inspiration in the stillness of the park and its beauty when he came to design the piece. Still Moment represents different things to different people and visitors to the park have already shared a range of ideas that they have drawn from the piece, which overlooks the tranquil Anniversary Lake, he said.
Rocks from the old quarry, which used to be located at the site, have also been incorporated into the artwork as a tribute to the past.
Wilson Botanic Park is located at 668 Princes Highway, Berwick. Entry is free.
