CASEY’S bus stops are set for an upgrade with $750,000 allocated to fix the city’s 260 problem sites.
Some of the bus stops do not satisfy the requirements for disabled people and have raised official concern.
The State Government has provided the funding but Casey Council will be responsible for allocating the money to the various bus stops.
Also on the agenda is the call for additional bus services between Endeavour Hills and Fountain Gate.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said he had recently written to the Minister for Public Transport to raise his concerns about the service.
“I acknowledge that this service is needed and I will be speaking to the Minister regarding the solving of this situation,” Mr Donnellan said.
He said the government was aware of the need for accessible bus stops for both able-bodied people and those with disabilities.
“This is great news for residents throughout Casey, especially the aged or the disabled. This money will go a long way to providing more easily accessible bus stops.”
